The trailer of Vijay's "Theri" has got over five million hits on YouTube. It has garnered close to two lakh likes and 16,000 dislikes.
The video recorded a million views in a couple of hours after it hit the Internet with a bang last Sunday, March 20. In the next two days, the trailer garnered over 3.5 million hits, and got more than 1.8 lakh likes and over 14,000 dislikes.
The trailer has now reached the 5-million mark in five days.
The movie features Vijay in three distinct avatars — as characters named Joseph Kuruvila, Vijay Kumar and Dharmeshwar. Viewers feel he has stolen the show with his stylish looks and powerful one-liners in the trailer, besides his electrifying screen presence.
The "Theri" trailer has beaten the record of Ajith-starrer "Yennai Arindhaal," which is close to reaching the five-million mark. The video was released in December 2014 and has accumulated over 68,000 likes and about 10,000 dislikes.
"Theri" Distribution Rights

Producer Kalaipuli S Dhanu has already sold the rights of a few regions, including the U.S. and Malaysia. The producer is having negotiations with leading firms over the rights of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and the deals are expected to be struck by this weekend.
The movie will be released April 14 on the occasion of the Tamil New Year. It will reportedly hit over 1,000 screens.
The movie, directed by Atlee Kumar, features Samantha and Amy Jackson in the female lead roles. Baby Nainika and Mahendran are among the supporting cast members.
