SJ Suryah has been planning to make a sequel to his blockbuster "Kushi" and it seems he is now ready to start his ambitious project. But, the filmmaker's wish to start the project with Vijay will not materialise now and hence, he will go ahead with Pawan Kalyan.
The director-turned-actor had directed Vijay in blockbuster "Kushi" before remaking it in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan. SJ Suryah had thought about making a sequel for a long time, but the project kept getting delayed as he could not come up with a good script.
SJ Suryah reportedly has a good script now, but Vijay is busy with other projects. At present, the actor is working on his forthcoming movie "Theri", that is being directed by Atlee Kumar. He has also committed to a film that will be directed by Bharathan. Hence, his dates for the next 10 months are blocked, forcing Suryah to approach Pawan Kalayan for "Kushi 2".
The movie will be made in Telugu and it will not be dubbed into Tamil as SJ Suryah wants Vijay to star in the Kollywood version. The proposed project will probably begin in May after Pawan Kalyan wraps up his forthcoming flick "Sardaar Gabbar Singh". Eros International has reportedly come forward to bankroll the film. The first instalment was produced by AM Rathnam, who is basking in the success of "Vedalam".
"Kushi" remains one of the biggest hits in Vijay and SJ Suryah's careers. The film, which also featured Jyothika, was released in 2000 and had broken several records at the box office. The success in Tamil paved way for its remakes in Telugu and Hindi.
While Pawan Kalyan and Bhumika Chawla starred in the Telugu version, Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor played the lead roles in the Hindi version.
