Ever since Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" teaser was released, there have been rumours doing the rounds that the film has some similarities to Vijay's "Kaththi."
The teaser, which was released a few days ago, raised curiosity among the fans regarding its story. A shot in the teaser shows one of Rajinikanth's characters building a dam. This led to speculations that "Lingaa" deals with water crisis in a locality.
The recently-released "Kaththi" dealt with corporates exploiting water resources of the village farmers. Based on the similarity, there were rumours spreading that "Lingaa" makers have decided to re-shoot some portions of the film.
However, the film's producer Rockline Venkatesh has denied the rumours and has also clarified that there is no connection the between the scripts of "Lingaa" and "Kaththi."
"There is no connection between the two scripts. Our script is completely different and we are not re-shooting any portion of the film again," Venkatesh was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The shooting of "Lingaa" was completely wrapped up during the team's recent trip to Europe, but they are planning to shoot a small portion in Chennai to mark the end of the film, the producer told the daily.
The film's team is gearing up for audio launch of "Lingaa." Earlier, it was stated that the audio launch will happen on 9 November, but it did not materialise. It is now confirmed that the music release event is all set to happen on 16 November.
Directed by KS Ravikumar, "Lingaa" will have Rajinikanth in dual roles. The film is reportedly set in pre-independent and post-independent eras. Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty play the female leads for the first time opposite Rajini. Santhanam, Vijayakumar and Jagapathi Babu are also part of the film's cast. AR Rahman has composed the songs, while Rathnavelu has handled the cinematography.
There are huge expectations for "Lingaa" as the superstar will be seen in a stylish avatar. The film, touted to be a commercial entertainer, is expected to have loads of action, punch dialogues and comedy. The first-look motion poster and the teaser have generated huge buzz surrounding the project. It needs to be seen if the film will impress fans.
"Lingaa" is slated to hit the screens on 12 December for Rajinikanth's birthday.
