Nandamuri Balakrishna is reportedly set to star with his nephew Kalyan Ram in the Telugu remake of Vijay-Mohanlal's hit Tamil film "Jilla", which will be directed by Samudra.
"Jilla" is an action drama film written and directed by RT Neason. The movie is about an adopted son, who wants his father to leave all his illegal activities. Vijay and Mohanlal have played son and father respectively in the movie, which has become one of super-hit Kollywood films in 2014.
The buzz in the film industry is that director Samudra plans to remake "Jilla" in Telugu and actor-cum-producer Kalyan Ram wants to rope in Balakrishna for the movie. The director recently held a special screening of the film for Balayya. If everything goes as per plans, Kalyan Ram will play the adopted son of a mafia don essayed by Vijay, while Balayya is tipped to play Mohanlal's role.
"Director Samudra held a special screening of the movie for Balayya a couple of days ago. The actor liked it and even suggested some changes to suit Telugu sensibilities," The Times of India quoted a source close to Balakrishna as saying. "The discussions are still on. Balakrishna has agreed in principle to act with Kalyanram and the duo has been looking for suitable scripts," adds the source.
Another source claims that Balakrishna accepted the offer and suggested some modifications. "Balayya is ready to reprise the role, but asked for some modifications. However, if he signs this movie, then it will go floors only after he completes his 100th movie. Because he can't take this film as his prestigious 100th film as fans are expecting something much bigger than this," Gulte quotes a source from Nandamuri camp as saying.
Ever since "Jilla" hit the screens, the speculations about its Telugu remake are doing the rounds. It was rumoured that Sharat Marar has acquired its remake rights and Pawan Kalyan will play lead role in it. Post "Gopala Gopala" release, it was rumoured that the producer has planned to rope in Venkatesh and Ravi Teja after Pawan Kalyan rejected it. Veeru Potla was rumoured to direct the remake, which was expected to go on floors in April.
