The fans of Ilayathalapathy Vijay had a fantastic time at Vettri and Rakesh theatres in Chennai on Tuesday, 12 January, as special shows of the star's blockbuster film "Kaththi" were held.
It was Pongal special shows, primarily screened for Vijay's fans by the theatre owners. Initially, the plan was to have only one show at 6.30 pm at Vettri. But, the stupendous response encouraged them to screen another show and to extend it to their mini theatre Rakesh.
All the shows ran into packed houses and the fans of Vijay had a great time watching the Tamil film. They went crazy during Vijay's introduction scene and every time their icon mouthed punch dialogues, the fans said on Twitter. They also set a trend on Twitter with hashtag #KaththiPongalSpecialinVettri, and kept posting photos from theatres and shared interesting moments even as they watched the film in full excitement.
It is astonishing to see the blockbuster film pulling audience to theatres in big numbers even so long after its official release (2014). A hardcore Vijay fan tweeted, "Festivals are incomplete without Vijay films in theatres and its "Kaththi" that has lighten up the festival this time." Their joy doubled when the first look of Vijay's "Theri" was screened.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, "Kaththi" was an action thriller starring Vijay in dual roles. Samantha, Sathish and Neil Nithin Mukesh were also part of the film's cast. Its music was composed by Anirudh, while the film was produced by Lyca Productions and Ayngaran International.
