The trailer of Vijay's "Thalaivaa" (Leader) has taken the internet by storm.

Released just three days ago, the "Thalaivaa" trailer has garnered more than 16 lakh visitors on YouTube. The official video has also fetched more than 18,000 likes, making it one of the most-viewed film trailers on the vide sharing website.

The film's audio and trailer were launched in a grand event organised at Chennai's Taj Coramandel on 21 June, a day ahead of Vijay's birthday. The music album by G V Prakash has six songs which have topped the musical charts.

A song by Vijay and comedian Santhanam "Vaanganna Vanakkangana" was leaked into social media circles even before the film's audio launch. The song became an instant hit and is doing well in all radio stations. The cast and crew of "Thalaivaa" including leading lady Amala Paul shared their experiences about working in the film. The music CD of the film was released by Vijay and received by film historian "Film News" Anandan.

The two-minute, 42-second trailer, which was also simultaneously released with the audio, gives us a glimpse of what we could expect from the film. "Thalaivaa" story is about a common man who turns into a leader. Directed by A.L. Vijay, the film has Sathyaraj and Rajeev Pillai in pivotal roles.

The shooting has been completed and the film is in post-production stage. Fans have been eagerly looking forward for the film to hit the theatres. But, there is still no clarity on the release date. Earlier, it was reported that the Vijay-starrer would be released on 9 August , a week ahead of Independence Day.

Latest buzz is that the film might get released in July or on 15 August. The film's makers are yet make an official announcement on the same.
