Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Sudeep starrer "Puli" is likely to hit screens for Ganesh festival, as makers are planning to release the film on 17 September.
Boss Siva aka Sivakumar, who distributes most of the Vijay's films at selected regions, on Twitter said: "Puli team is planning to release movie on Sep 17th Vinayakar Chathurthi."
It is believed that the makers are planning to cash in on the four-day weekend. Films released during festival weekends often do well as the audience turn out is higher than normal days.
Vijay's previous movies like "Thuppakki" and "Kaththi" got flying starts at the box office during festive weekends. Hence, makers of "Puli" have set their eyes on four-day Ganesh festival weekend.
Giving further information on the movie, Boss Siva posted that "Puli" has come out well. Currently, the film's unit is busy shooting two songs of the film in Cambodia.
"As per inside source Puli came out very well . It is going to be biggest blockbuster for vijay. Puli talkie portions completed , only 2 songs pending , now that's is going on in combodia," he tweeted.
The song sequences are pictured on Vijay, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani. While one track will be shot in Sihanoukville beach, the other will be filmed at Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument complex in the world, in Cambodia. Both the songs have been choreographed by Raju Sundaram. Soon the CGI and VF works will begin and it is expected to consume a lot of time.
"Puli" is a fantasy-adventure, which has Vijay and Sudeep in the lead roles. Hansika Motwani and Shruti Haasan are the female leads with yesteryear actress Sridevi playing a key role. Chimbudevan is directing the movie, which is produced by Shibu Thameens and PT Selvakumar. The budget of the movie is around ₹90-100 crore.
The movie has Devi Sri Prasad's music, Natarajan Subramaniam's cinematography and A Sreekar Prasad's editing.
