Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Shruti Haasan starrer "Puli" release has been delayed. The movie will now hit the screens on the Gandhi Jayanthi weekend.
The news has been confirmed by the makers of the movie. The official Twitter account of the production house posted, "1st OCTOBER,2015" #Puli in Theatres :)."
The VFX works are unlikely to be completed on schedule, causing the two-week delay, say sources.
The makers wanted to release "Puli" on time and tried their best to release the film during Ganesh Chaturthi. But, the VFX works will require more time than expected. Hence, the makers had to push the release date.
The makers want to release "Puli" on 1 October. It will be a four-day Gandhi Jayanti weekend for the flick. The opening weekend is crucial for the film's success at the box office as the makers have shelled over Rs 100 crore on this project.
The "Puli" trailer, which was released last week, has gone viral among Kollywood audience. The video clip has been viewed more than 4 million times on YouTube.
However, Vijay's fans want the clip to set a new record on the video-sharing site by beating the record of Vikram's "I" trailer, which had crossed over 8.5 million hits on YouTube.
"Puli", which is a fantasy-adventure, has been written and directed by Chimbudeven. Apart from Vijay and Shruti Haasan, Kiccha Sudeep, Hansika Motwani and Sridevi Kapoor play key roles in the flick. Prabhu, Nandita Shweta, Vijayakumar, Thambi Ramaiah, Aadukalam Naren, Imman Annachi and others are also part of the cast.
The movie has Devi Sri Prasad's music, Natarajan Subramaniam's cinematography and Sreekar Prasad's editing.
