Vijay Sethupathi, who is considered to be a fast-growing star, has bagged a biggie. The actor has been signed to play an important role in Dhanush's forthcoming Tamil movie "Vada Chennai."
Dhanush formally confirmed the news on his Twitter account and wrote, "Vijay Sethupathi will be playing a very important extended cameo in vada chennai. Very happy :) [sic]"
Actor Samuthirakani too welcomed Vijay Sethupathi on board as he tweeted: "Vijay Sethupathy will be playing a very very important role in #VadaChennai Hats off to him as he himself is a hero accepting this role. [sic]"
Amala Paul plays the main female lead in "Vada Chennai." It was earlier offered to Samantha, who could not take up the project due to her busy schedule. Andrea Jeremiah and Samuthirakani are seen in important roles in the flick, which has Daniel Balaji, Kishore, Karunas, Pawan and others are in the cast.
"Vada Chennai" has Santhosh Narayanan's music, Velraj's cinematography and GV Venkatesh's editing.
The movie is a trilogy which tells the story of a gangster in North Chennai. The original plan was to cast Karthi in the lead role and the actor had accepted the offer in 2009. But the plans underwent changes resulting in Silambarasan signing the project to play the lead role along with Rana Daggubati, Divya Spandana aka Ramya and Andrea Jeremiah.
The delay in the commencement of "Vada Chennai" made the signed actor opt of the project. Vetrimaaran revived the film again and approached Dhanush, which finally took off in June 2016.
The movie is being produced by A Subaskaran, Dhanush and Vetrimaaran under the banners Lyca Productions, Wunderbar Films and Grass Root Film Company.
