Even before the Vijay-AR Murugadoss project could hit the floors, speculations about the film has been gaining momentum of late.
The latest buzz in Kollywood is that the film has been titled "Athiradi." However, director Murugadoss has refuted the reports and termed them as mere rumours. He insisted that the title of the project is yet to be decided.
Murugadoss is currently busy working with Akshay Kumar in the Bollywood remake of his Tamil blockbuster "Thuppakki." The action thriller flick, starring Vijay, was one of the highest grossers in 2012 and reportedly fetched more than ₹100 crore at the worldwide box office.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see Vijay teaming up with Murugadoss, who has been a successful director ("Ghajini", "Thuppakki") as well as a producer ("Engeyum Eppodhum" and "Vathikuchi"). The untitled project is expected to go on floors next year.
Vijay, whose latest release "Thalaivaa" is doing good business, is now working with debutant director RT Nesan for their upcoming film titled, "Jilla", that boasts of an interesting star cast including Kajal Aggarwal, Mohanlal and Poornima Bhagyaraj. The shooting of the film is progressing at a rapid pace and it is expected to get released on the auspicious day of Pongal in January 2014.
Vijay is likely to commence Murugadoss' project after the release of "Jilla". According to reports, the untitled film will deal with a new subject and will not be a sequel to "Thuppakki."
"Vijay and Murugadoss sir will team up again in 2014. It will be a fresh project, but not a sequel to 'Thuppakki'. The script is in its final stage of completion," a source close to Vijay once told Indo-Asian News Service.
Music composer Anirudh of "3" and "Vanakkam Chennai" fame will be scoring the music for the Vijay starrer.
Speculations are rife that Samantha Ruth Prabhu, one of the leading actresses of south Indian cinema, might play Vijay's love interest but there is no official confirmation on the same.
