Atlee Kumar is apparently being rewarded for his good work by the makers of "Theri" even before its release. He has bagged the offer to make the sequel of his upcoming Tamil film.
The makers are planning a sequel to "Theri", reports the Times of India. If it is true, it will be an achievement for a young director to work in consecutive films of an A-list actor. It has to be noted that many leading filmmakers, including Sasikumar and Mohan Raja, were reportedly in the race to direct "Vijay 61".
In the end, the project has fallen into lap of Atlee Kumar. Recently, there were reports that the director's work had impressed producer Kalaipuli S Dhanu and Vijay. It was also said Ilayathalapathy had asked the director whether he had good stories in hand to collaborate for one more film after "Theri". Hence, the news has not come as a surprise to cine-goers.
The second instalment of "Theri" will reportedly deal with a father-daughter relationship. "The second part will revolve around actor Vijay and his relationship with his daughter, who will, to keep the continuity alive, have grown up. Vijay's real-life daughter, Divya, will play his reel-life daughter in the sequel, too. It is also speculated that Amy Jackson will play an important role," the Times of India quotes a source as saying.
However, the sequel to "Theri" will not take off immediately as Vijay is already committed to a film to be directed by Bharathan. Hence, the second instalment has to begin only after the completion of his 60th movie.
"Theri" is an action-thriller that narrates the story of a cop. Samantha and Amy Jackson are playing the female leads in the Tamil film.
Meanwhile, the teaser of "Theri", released last week, has gone viral among Kollywood audience. In less than four days, it has crossed 5 million hits on YouTube.
