Ilayathalapathy Vijay, who is basking in the success of his latest movie "Kaththi", might team up with one of the biggest filmmakers of India. The actor will reportedly team up with none other than Shankar for a mega-budget project.
The rumours doing the rounds say that Vijay and Shankar will join hands in the actor's 60th movie. It is said that the director's first preference is to direct Rajinikanth and make a sequel to their blockbuster "Enthiran".
Rajinikanth has shown an interest on "Enthiran 2", but the superstar hasn't given a positive nod. So, Shankar has alternate plans to cast Vijay if the movie with Rajini is delayed or failed to take off.
Vijay and Shankar had earlier worked in "Nanban", which was the remake of blockbuster Bollywood movie "3 Idiots". Post the release, they had expressed, at different platforms, that they want to work together again but for a straight movie.
However, the audience will get more clarity on the issue once Vijay, who is on a short vacation to London, returns to Chennai. Even if he approves the project, it will not be made in the near future as Ilayathalapathy has committed to two other movies.
Vijay has to complete Chimbudevan's fantasy-adventure movie, which also features Shruti Haasan, Sudeep and Sridevi in prominent roles and an untitled movie with Atlee Kumar of "Raja Rani" fame.
On the other end, Shankar is completely busy with his magnum opus "I" starring Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead. When asked about his next movie, the director had refused to spill beans on it. The maverick filmmaker has said that he has not decided on his next movie.
