The shooting for Tamil movie "Puli" kick-started only recently, but the makers have already finalised on the release date for the upcoming flick. The movie will hit the screens in January 2016.
Some reports state that the makers have locked in the release date. Ideally, they want the film to hit the screens for Pongal, 15 January. If there is a delay in the making, they would like to release the movie for Republic Day, 26 January.
In both cases, "Vijay 59" will get an extended weekend of three days and there is a possibility of it releasing a day before, so as to make it a four-day weekend, says the buzz.
January is a special month for Kollywood. The movies released for Pongal often struck gold as the audience turn to theatres during one of the biggest festival seasons of the state.
And, in recent years, it has been observed that at least one Vijay's film releases during Pongal. Some of the films released during the festival are "Kaavalan", "Nanban", "Jilla" etc.
"Vijay 59" is directed by Atlee Kumar of "Raja Rani" fame and produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu. It has GV Prakash Kumar's music, Ruben's editing and George C Williams' cinematography.
Meanwhile, GV Prakash Kumar has already composed all the songs of the movie. Vijay has sung two songs in the flick.
Samantha and Amy Jackson are the female leads in "Vijay 59", in which Vijay and Amy play the roles of cops. It is a family-oriented action drama with a lot of emotions. Prabhu and Radhika Sarathkumar are playing Ilayathalapathy's parents with veteran director Mahendran has turned baddie in the flick. KS Ravikumar, Rajendran and a few others are also part of the cast.
