The cast of "Vijay 59" has been making headlines since its announcement and there has been several speculations regarding this. Now, it has been revealed that Veteran Tamil filmmaker J Mahendran will play the villain in superstar Vijay's next flick, which is being directed by Atlee.
"Director Mahendran has been finalised as the film's villain. Unlike regular villains, this will be a very interesting role. He is expected to join the sets soon," a source from the film's unit told IANS.
Though the sources did not mention the name, the role was apparently offered to two other veteran directors but they turned down the offer.
Mahendran, 75, is known for helming Tamil classics such as "Mullum Malarum", "Uthiripookkal" and "Johnny".
Meanwhile, the upcoming movie is made with a budget of over ₹100 crore and to the delight of fans, music composer GV Prakash Kumar has announced that the film has two songs sung by Vijay. He also added that the audience will get to watch Vijay dance to a "Thara" local number.
As per the reports, Vijay will play the role of a police officer in the film, which also features Amy Jackson and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles. The movie also stars Prabhu, Azhagam Perumal and Kaali Venkat. The shooting of the film has reportedly been planned for 140 days and will begin by the first week of July.
