The big fat wedding celebrations of "The Dirty Picture" actress Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor began with a private sangeet ceremony in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The sangeet ceremony was held on Tuesday evening at Vidya's Khar residence and was attended by family members and close friends of the actress and Siddharth.
According to reports, there was no Bollywood celebrity present at the pre-wedding bash.
The bride-to-be was looking beautiful in her trademark traditional red silk sari with gold jewelley and the groom-to-be was looking handsome in off-white embroidered kurta and pajama.
As reported earlier, Vidya's entire bridal ensemble is being designed by her favourite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Sabyasachi will also design 18 silk saris for the trousseau and her family in traditional wedding colours.
"All the saris will be in pure Chennai silk and he is himself going to Chennai to source the silk. In Tamil weddings, there's a change in sari for different rituals during the wedding so she has two bridal saris, both warm-shaded silks and Sabya's doing some exquisite work on them. The cholis will be very traditional," Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying.
Vidya's parents Saraswathy and P R Balan and her sister's son Ruhaan were present at the event. Her elder sister Priya and brother-in-law Kedar were busy with the arrangements for the sangeet ceremony, according to NDTV.
Siddharth's younger borthers, actors Kunal and Aditya Kapoor were present at the event and also did a special performance at the sangeet ceremony.
Vidya will marry Siddharth, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, on December 14 at a South Indian Temple in Chembur, Mumbai. According to reports, the wedding will also take place in Punjabi style.
The couple wants to keep their marriage a private affair following which only close friends and family members are invited.
Bollywood celebrities expected to be present on the grand day include Amitabh Bachchan and his family, filmmakers Milan Luthria, Vishal Bharadwaj, Rajkumar Gupta and R Balki, Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor, and designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, among others.
