Anthony Martial marked his Manchester United debut in perfect style, scoring a Thierry Henry-like goal to help Manchester United to a 3-1 win over rivals Liverpool in the English Premier League.
A sumptuous Daley Blind strike and an Ander Herrera penalty looked like being enough to take Manchester United to a 2-0 win, before Christian Benteke put his stamp on the game with a stunning overhead kick.
However, Martial, who came on for Juan Mata on 66 minutes, would have the final say, as he cut in from the left, leaving Martin Skrtel for dead, before sliding in a goal into the bottom corner that would have had the Arsenal legend nodding his head in approval.
After a barren first half, bereft of chances or quality, Manchester United broke the deadlock on 49 minutes via a clever freekick.
Ashley Young, the halftime substitute, won a freekick on the Manchester United left, with Juan Mata then sliding a perfect ball for an unmarked Blind at the edge of the box. Blind swung that let boot of his to great effect with the ball hitting the top corner, leaving Simon Mignolet with no chance.
Liverpool, who came into this match setup for a draw, had to find a way to create some chances, and even if they did create a few ooh and aah moment the returning David De Gea making a couple of nice saves off Danny Ings and Jordon Ibe -- it was Manchester United who looked like they had put the game to bed on 70 minutes.
Herrera was felled by Joe Gomez inside the penalty area and the midfielder himself stepped up to fire home the penalty into the roof of the net.
With the match seemingly won, Louis Van Gaal brought on the world's most expensive teenager Anthony Martial, who showed a glimpse or two of his pace in the final 20 minutes, but it was Benteke, first, who reminded everyone of his talents, thumping the ball into the net, similar to the manner in which Wayne Rooney scored that famous goal.
However, just when Liverpool thought they were back in the game, Martial popped up with a wonderful individual goal, a goal which showed why Manchester United stumped up all that money to bring him from Monaco on summer transfer deadline day.
