Heres your round-up of the biggest video game news stories from the past seven days.... which is just two stories actually. Two huge stories that rendered everything else moot. First, Rockstar Games teased and then announced Red Dead Redemption 2, before Nintendo finally revealed their next gaming hardware. Once called the NX, say hello to the Nintendo Switch.
Below are the original stories in part. For further details, click the headlines.
Red Dead Redemption 2 teaser trailer shows off Rockstars gorgeous return to the Old West
Rockstar has revealed the debut trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, which it officially announced earlier this week. The trailer gives us a good look at the stunning world of the game set to release next year on PS4 and Xbox One.
The trailer didnt specify any characters that will appear in the game (sorry John Marston fans) but did give a good look at the gorgeous world Rockstar is working on for its first game developed specifically for PS4 and Xbox One.
All we hear other than the soundtrack is a voiceover from an unseen character that says: Listen to me, when the time comes you gotta run and dont look back. This is over.
Nintendo reveals Nintendo Switch: its new home and handheld hybrid console
Nintendo has formally announced the Nintendo Switch: its new piece of dedicated gaming hardware set for release in March 2017. As had been reported earlier this year, the device previously known by its codename NX, will be capable of both home and portable gaming.
The Switch was announced with a three-and-a-half minute trailer revealing the basic concept of the console and promising much more information . The trailer also teased a few NX titles, including a new Mario platformer and seemingly Wii U titles, including Splatoon.
The device is a handheld screen with two controllers on either side that can be slotted in and out to create the handheld or a controller for use when the screen portion is put into a docking station connected to a TV.
Mario Kart 8, Skyrim: Special Edition and NBA 2K17 also appeared alongside the new Mario title and Splatoon. A fully-formed controller similar to the Pro Controller for Wii U is also seen.
