Chelsea cemented their place at the top of the Premier League following a comfortable 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
An early strike from Oscar followed by goals by Diego Costa and Willian proved to be too much for Villa, who recorded their second successive defeat following a 0-3 loss against Arsenal last weekend.
The game started with Chelsea breaking the deadlock in the 7th minute through Oscar, who, after being picked up by Willian near the box, rushed forward and eased the ball behind Brad Guzan.
Willian threatened to double his side's advantage in the 14th minute, but his effort from a very tight angle went wide after taking a deflection off a Chelsea player.
Four minutes later, Villa got a very good opportunity to level the scores after Chelsea failed to clear a corner and the loose ball found Aly Cissokho. The former Valencia man fired an effort but the ball went wide off the target.
Willian was again in the thick of action close to the half-hour mark as he whipped in a cross towards Costa. The Brazilian-born striker connected with a powerful header but Guzan was able to make a save.
Although the visitors were mostly on the back foot for most of the second half, they showed some zeal in the second half as Fabian Delph, after dribbling past a couple of defenders, unleashed a venomous long-range volley that was just wide off the post.
Villa got another chance through a set piece in the 55th minute, but Baker, after doing well to get at the end of a free-kick, wasn't able to keep his header down as the ball flew wide.
The visitors were soon made to pay for their missed chance as they doubled their lead through Costa, who powered a header past Guzan after being picked up with a cross by Branislav Ivanovic in the 59th minute.
Villa failed to test the Chelsea defence in the latter, and the match finally ended with the Blues getting a well-deserved 3-0 win.
