South Indian film industry will now witness yet another celebrity divorce as popular actress Priyanka Nair has filed a divorce plea against her husband and Tamil filmmaker Lawrence Ram .
According to reports, the actress, who is known for her performance in Tamil movie "Veyil", had filed a divorce petition in the beginning of this year at a family court in her home-town, Thiruvananthapuram. The court will hear her plea on Tuesday, 9 June.
Priyanka and Lawrence tied the knot on 23 May 2012 at the famous Attukal Temple in Kerala after they dated for years. The wedding was attended by many celebs from Tamil and Malayalam industries.
The latest reports have claimed that the actress has filed a case against Lawrence for misusing her net accounts.
"The decision of her husband to quit acting is the reason cited for the divorce. When strong characters come her way, she is not ready to shelve all that. She has filed four cases against her husband and one among them is as per the IT Act. She has stated that her husband is misusing her net accounts. Two cases are in the family court here. As she belongs to Vamanapuram, the other two cases are in the Nedumangad court," reported Kaumudi Online.
Reports also claimed that Lawrence has filed a case seeking custody of their two-year-old son Mukund Ram.
Priyanka, who began her career as a television actress in Malayalam, made an impressive performance in Vasanth Balan's "Veyil". Though she failed to make a huge mark in Tamil film industry, the actress later won Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress in Malayalam movie "Vilapangalkkappuram".
Priyanka, who quit acting after marriage, made a comeback in 2013 movie "Pottas Bomb".
