Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio's Vespa 946 premium scooter is set for its market launch in India soon. The Vespa 946 has been long-rumoured for its India launch and was previously scheduled for its launch in 2014.
Vespa will launch Emporio Armani variant of the 946 in India on October 25 and when launched, the new Vespa scooter will be the most expensive scooter in the country. The company is also expected to launch the Vespa 70th Anniversary Edition in India on the same day. The Vespa 946 is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 9 lakh. The Vespa 946 will be brought to India as Completely Built Unit (CBU).

To be powered by 4-storke 125cc 3Valve monocylinder engine, the 946 is tuned to churn out 11.7hp at 8250rpm and a peak torque of 10.3Nm torque at 7000rpm. It gets LED headlamps and tail lamps with LCD instrument panel and features ABS, traction control system, Anti Slip Regulator and disc brakes in front and rear.
The Vespa 946 debuted in India at Auto Expo 2016 and is one of the most stylish Vespa scooters. The 946 combines the retro styling with modern touches without compromising the Italian design language. The 946 flaunts disc brakes at the front and rear and will be imported from Europe.
In India, the 946 will be sold exclusively via Motorplex dealerships. The Motorplex store is a single platform for the sale of Vespa, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi brands under the Piaggio group. Vespa's current India line-up includes five models — Vespa SXL 150, Vespa VXL 150, Vespa SXL 125, Vespa VXL 125 and Vespa.
In India, Piaggio recently launched the Aprilia SR 150 scooter with a price tag of Rs 65,000. The SR 150 is the first Aprilia product manufactured at Piaggio's India plant in Baramati, Maharashtra.
