Vespa, the brand of scooters manufactured by Italian company Piaggio, has postponed the launch of the 946 Emporio Armani and the 70th anniversary range of scooters in India due to unknown reasons. The Vespa scooters were scheduled to be launched in India on October 25.
The company is expected to announce the re-scheduled date in the coming days. The launch is now expected to be held in November. Vespa's current India line-up comprises five models — Vespa SXL 150, Vespa VXL 150, Vespa SXL 125, Vespa VXL 125 and Vespa.
The 946 Emporio Armani, the limited edition variant of the 946, will be brought to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The Vespa 946, one of the most stylish Vespa scooters, made its debut in India at Auto Expo 2016. The 946 Emporio Armani is expected to be priced at around Rs 8 lakh. It will be available only in limited numbers.
It comes powered by a 4-stroke 125cc 3Valve monocylinder engine. The 946 is tuned to churn out 11.7hp at 8250rpm and a peak torque of 10.3Nm torque at 7000rpm. It features LED headlamps and tail lamps with LCD instrument panel and features ABS, traction control system, Anti Slip Regulator and disc brakes in front and rear.
On the other hand, the 70th anniversary edition of Vespa was launched to celebrate the company's milestone. The range is likely to come in two schemes — Azzurro 70 and Grigio 70.
