It seems Verizon, a wireless communications services provider in the US, is quite sure of the release date of Apple's new iPhone or iPhone 5 and is anticipating a huge demand for it, if latest reports are to be believed.
A trusted Verizon employee has just confirmed that the carrier is having an all-staff vacation blackout from the dates of Friday, September 21 to September 30, reported TechCrunch.
Apple Inc is tight-lipped on the release date of its next-generation smartphone till date although speculations are rife that it would be announced on Sept 12 and hit the stores ten days later.
Speculations were doing the rounds that iPhone 5 will be announced along with iPad mini and release on the same day. But latest reports claimed that the much-anticipated products would hit the market separately.
Not convinced that the Apple products would be released on the same day, Daring Fireball's John Gruber reasoned that the products are too big to share the spotlight. He added that iPad mini would be launched in October.
"I don't think Apple would want reviews of both a new iPhone and new-size iPad appearing at the same time. Why share the spotlight? Why have another Apple product battling with the iPhone for the top spots in news coverage? So I thought, well, maybe they'd only seed the review units of the iPhone on September 12, with the new-size iPad going into reviewer hands a few weeks later," wrote John Gruber.
Apple has not revealed the price of its new iPhone but according to pricedekho.com, it is expected to be priced ₹45,000 approximately and hit the stores in India in October or November.
According to rumours, iPhone 5 will feature a 4-inch Retina display, an A5X Variant chip, 1GB RAM, iOS 6, 4G LTE technology, Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, improved Siri, liquidmetal casing, an 8-megapixel (or even higher) rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chatting and a much-improved battery life.
