The release of the highly-anticipated Spiderman spin-off, Venom is over two months away, but Tom Hardy fans at the 2018 San Diego ComicCon received the biggest surprise when they got the first peek at the latest footage from the film.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom is written by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, Kelly Marcel, and Will Beall. The Spider-Man spin-off centers around the life of journalist Eddie Brock (Hardy) who attempts to save his career by investigating Life Foundation operated by Dr Carlton Drake/Riot (Riz Ahmed).
Eddie's life soon changes completely when he comes in the contact with an alien Symbiote. The Symbiote bonds with him, giving him superpowers as long as they share the same body.
During the ongoing Comic-Con, fans were hoping to see the Venom's connection with Tom Holland's Spider-Man, although from the footage it looks like it is not happening for quite some time.
The shared video will soon be available online but till then, check out the breakdown of the footage.
The Spider-Man spin-off trailer opens up at a convenient store, the same one which the viewers saw in the first released trailer, where we see Tom Hardy's character, Eddie Brock. Eddie is shown very shaky and the receptionist informs him that he does not look pleasant and he should go home to relax and meditate.
The trailer subsequently takes us to Eddie's home where he looks like something is wrong with him physically. He tries to meditate, but things do not work out for him as he sees memories of him running through woods. He wakes up and buries his face on the couch. He is then shown taking medication for the anxiety. He even contacts someone on the phone and informs them that he is not feeling good.
"You cannot change the past. But in the present moment, you are in total control," a voiceover says, reports Gamespot.
The next scene opens up in an alley where we see a tired Eddie walking by and in a few seconds, he is thrown against a wall. The trailer then cuts to Dr. Carlton Drake, who says that humans are expendable. The viewers are then shown his Life Foundation's experiment on a man who is almost snapped in half by a Symbiote before we see Eddie tested it on himself.
The trailer jumps to the action sequences of Eddie beating up goons with the help of Symbiote, which the fans saw in the second trailer. Not only this, in the later part of the SDCC trailer, the Symbiote is shown emerging from him and talking to Eddie while facing him. He tells Eddie that his old life has seized to exist but Eddie pushes the Symbiote and tells him that he does not wish to injure anyone. The rest of the trailer is just some high graphic action shots showing Venom licking a guy's face.
The Marvel movie also featured Michelle Williams as Eddie's love interest and how Drake's Symbiote goes toe to toe with Eddie. During the SDCC 2018, Tom Hardy said Venom will be close to the storyline in the Lethal Protector comics.
[Eddie] is an anti-hero, so he'll figure on a goal, and he'll do whatever he has to do to get to that goal.
Starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Scott Haze in pivotal roles, Venom is scheduled to release on October 5, 2018.
