Ajith's "Vedalam" has ended its second weekend on a high note. The Tamil film has also beaten the latest releases like "Spectre" and "Thoongavanam" in Chennai.
In the second weekend, "Vedalam" or "Vedhalam", has made a business of Rs 1.03 crore from 237 shows at the Chennai box office. In the opening six-day weekend, it had earned Rs 3.23 crore. Now, the 13-day total collection stands at Rs 5.15 crore. Despite heavy rains, the film has made good business and is expected to do well due to good word-of-mouth.
Hollywood latest movie "Spectre" is in the second position in Chennai. It has collected Rs 39.23 lakh from 150 shows in the Capital city of Tamil Nadu. It has to be seen how the film will perform in the coming days as the collection of non-Tamil movies will generally see a huge dip post first weekend.
Kamal Haasan's "Thoongavanam" is in the third place by minting Rs 32.52 lakh from 147 shows in its second weekend. The film had raked in Rs 1.69 crore in the first weekend. The total business made by the flick by the end of 13 days stand at Rs 2.42 crore. The film is branded as a movie best suited for urban audience. Hence, it should continue to perform well in Chennai.
Salman Khan starrer "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" is in the fourth position by making Rs 14.73 lakh from 54 shows. In the first weekend, it had made a business of Rs 42.93 lakh. The total collection of the film till date in Chennai stands at Rs 79.98 lakh.
Latest Tamil release "Oru Naal Iravil" has raked in Rs 9.62 lakh from 69 shows. Vignesh Shivan and Nayantara's film has earned Rs 1.84 lakh to take its total tally to Rs 4.98 crore.
