The remaining amount is contributed by the U.A.E., Sri Lanka and many other centres to end its lifetime worldwide business at Rs 125.7 crore.
"Vedalam" got the biggest opening in Kollywood by making Rs 15.5 crore, breaking the record of Rajinikanth's "Lingaa", which had earned Rs 12.8 crore, and Vijay's "Kaththi", which collected Rs 12.5 crore on its first day.
Ajith's film was released in 550 screens in Tamil Nadu and about 500 screens overseas. It made such a stupendous collection despite Chennai being affected heavily by unprecented rain, which had led to flooding.
Written by Siruthai Siva and produced by AM Rathnam, "Vedalam" features Shruthi Haasan and Lakshmi Menon as the female leads.
