Sarah Salvatore, the only living descendant of Damon and Stefan Salvatore, is going to be a part of Season 8 of "The Vampire Diaries" and it looks like the new villain, Sybil, has something to do with her return to Mystic Falls.
There isn't much information available about the new villain other than that it's a new supernatural being who is so powerful that she can manipulate others without their knowledge. Speculations are rife that Sybil will use Sarah to make Stefan agree to her setting up base in Mystic Falls. According to reports, Sybil will take a liking to Stefan, and she will also try to come in between Stefan and Caroline, who got back together towards the end of Season 7.
When questioned about Sarah's return, executive producer Julie Plec offered TVLine a cryptic reply. "It's actually a mystery what brings her back. It's seemingly disconnected to everything, and yet when we realize the what, we understand that it's tied into exactly what the villain is attempting to do," Plec said.
She also revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con that the new villain is rooted back all the way to ancient times. Sybil will be essayed by Nathalie Kelley and the character will be introduced in the Season 8 premiere titled "Hello Brother," which ended filming in the first week of August.
Season 8 of the vampire drama will see the gang trying to bring Enzo and Damon from the dark side.
You know those vampire murder sprees... I think Bonnie and Stefan and Caroline are gonna have their work cut out for them. I'm interested to see how Alaric plays into bringing Damon and Enzo back from the dark side. And how quick or so they will be in finding them and waking them up," actress Candice Accola, who plays Caroline, told IGN in July.
"The Vampire Diaries" returns Oct. 21st at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
