Season 7 of CW's "The Vampire Diaries" will see Ian Somerhalder's Damon going down a dark path now that his girlfriend Elena is no longer a part of his daily life.
Season 6 of the vampire drama saw Chris Wood's Kai casting a sleeping spell on Nina Dobrev's character Elena, and binding her to her best friend Bonnie. This means, as long as Bonnie is alive, Elena won't be able to wake up.
Damon, who in the past would have done anything to bring back his girlfriend, will not kill Bonnie to get Elena back, as season 6 saw the vampire and the witch getting closer during their time in Kai's prison world.
This undeniable chemistry during the time also led to a number of fans speculating about the chances of Damon and Bonnie getting romantic. And now that Elena is not actively present, chances are high that we would see Bonnie and Damon getting closer.
Actress Kat Graham, who essays the role of Bonnie, told E!Online earlier that we'll get to see more of Bonnie-Damon relationship, and how binding her life to Elena's is going to affect the couple.
"I'm hoping that we see both sides of their relationship and how it can affect them both because it's obviously going to screw with Bonnie and him, but especially Bonnie," she said.
Season 7 is going to focus on Lily Salvatore and her friends, the heretics, and Enzo is expected to be caught in between Lily, who turned him into a vampire, and the Salvatore brothers.
"I'm really looking forward to how Enzo gets put in the middle of Lily's heretic world and the Damon/Mystic Falls/Caroline world in season seven," executive producer Caroline Dries told E!Online. "He needs to figure out which side he's on and who he's loyal to. There's going to be some major fallout to that."
