The mid-season finale of "The Vampire Diaries" is going to have a Christmas theme, but there won't be much to celebrate this time around, as Bonnie will still be stuck in 1994.
"Christmas Through Your Eyes" will be the 10th episode of the season, and Bonnie (Kat Graham) will try to recreate her favourite holiday tradition while stuck in Kai's hell. The episode will also feature a flashback scene that has Bonnie, Caroline (Candice Accola) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) returning to their high-school days.
Fans of Damon and Elena will have some reasons to cheer in the episode, as spoilers indicate that the couple might once again share a kiss.
"There may be some hanging mistletoe in Damon and Elena's future," executive producer Julie Plec spilled to E!News. "Whether or not they kiss underneath it remains to be seen."
But because episode 10 is the mid-season finale, it is going to feature a lot of twist and turns and there are "some big, big, big chapter-ending moves at the end of the episode that change a lot for everyone," Plec told TVLine.
As for what else to expect from the episode, the official synopsis of "Christmas Through Your Eyes" does not reveal much. But it does note that Caroline will not be in the best of spirits as she is unable to return home to Mystic Falls because of its anti-magic boundary spell. And in an attempt to cheer up her daughter Sheriff Forbes brings the holidays to her at Whitmore College.
Meanwhile, Alaric's new girlfriend, Jo, who is also Kai's twin sister, will go missing in the episode. Last week's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" gave viewers a glimpse into the dark past of Jo and twins - Liv and Luke - and also revealed the extent to which Kai would go to become the head of the Gemini coven.
"Elsewhere, Jeremy helps Matt carry out a plan to take down Enzo but grows concerned when Matt takes things too far. Lastly, Stefan is forced to break some devastating news to Caroline," the synopsis read.
The mid-season finale will air on 11 December on The CW.
