Season 6 finale of "The Vampire Diaries" is just one day away, and fans of Nina Dobrev are going to be devastated as Thursday's episode would be her last on the CW show.
After six seasons of playing Elena Gilbert, Dobrev is quitting the vampire drama, and fans are eager to know what's in store for the character.
The promo for the upcoming episode hints that Elena could be dead, but executive producer Julie Plec has a word of advice for fans who are expecting the worst possible exit for the character. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Plec said: "There's a lot more going on in the episode than if you just take those trailers at face value."
The finale is titled "I'm Thinking of You All the While," and the synopsis states that Damon will be forced to take the most difficult decision of his life, after a devastating chain of events that puts Elena's life at risk.
Speculations are rife that this "difficult decision" could involve compelling Elena to forget her life as a vampire, thereby enabling her move on live life as a human, away from the Salvatore brothers.
Another theory has it that Elena would be in a coma following the events that occurred during Jo and Alaric's wedding, and she would wake up with no recollection of Damon or the rest of the gang.
The official synopsis of the episode reads: "In the aftermath of Alaric and Jo's powerful nuptials, things take a dramatic turn when an uninvited guest shows up, leaving Elena in terrible jeopardy. Despite Matt's advice to leave town to protect herself, a defiant Bonnie takes matters into her own hands after finding herself on the receiving end of a twisted plan."
"Meanwhile, Lily's reckless actions cause Stefan to realize the lengths to which his mother will go to reunite with her "family". Finally, after a devastating chain of events, Damon is forced to make the most difficult decision of his life. Jeremy and Enzo also appear."
