The season finale of "The Vampire Diaries" will see Stefan and Caroline, the characters essayed by Paul Wesley and Candice Accola respectively, being forced to take a decision regarding their relationship.
As witnessed earlier, Caroline wasn't ready to give their romance a shot after all the terror she unleashed as a vampire with her humanity turned off. But from the looks of it, Stefan isn't going to give up easily.
Executive producer Julie Plec revealed to TVLine that it's important for Caroline to hear what Stefan has to say. "I think that, if nothing else, Stefan deserves his say in the matter. I think he'll have a point of view that he'll share and that's important for [Caroline] to hear."
As for the future of their relationship, she noted: "Well, without spoiling too much, theirs is a relationship that I've personally been rooting for for a very long time. I love the idea of trying to explore if a show can be good when its main couple is happy. Often, you need conflict and hurdles and obstacles to keep a show spicy and exciting, so we'll see what next year brings."
The season finale, which will air on Thursday, will also see what's in store for Jo, whose wedding took a turn for the worse thanks to her twin Kai.
Should fans be worried about Jo and her babies? "I think you should stay worried. I'm not so sure that's going to have a happy ending, sadly," Plec said, hinting that Jo, the character essayed by Jodi Lynn O'Keefe, could be the next casualty.
"I adore her. I love Jodi Lynn O'Keefe and I love that relationship. Maybe it's because I'm a grownup, and I like seeing grownups fall in love, but it was definitely sad to bring it to the tragic place it is now."
"The Vampire Diaries" airs Thursdays on The CW. The finale will see the character Jeremy Gilbert returning to Mystic Falls.
