It's that time of the year again, and people around the world are marking this Valentine's Day by doing something unique to make it a memorable one.
The day before Valentine's Day was marked by mass wedding ceremonies and marriage proposals as many decided to start the next chapter of their lives on the day dedicated to love.
In Thailand, Valentine's Day festivities included an attempt to set a world record for non-stop hugging, and specially planned mass weddings. In one such case, the bride and the groom were spotted jumping into a pond as they were chased by men dressed as pirates.
In France, thousands of padlocks were spotted on the fence of the Pont des Arts over the River Seine as couples expressed their love. In a custom believed to have originated in Hungary, lovers leave padlocks in a place important to them and throw away the key. This symbolises that their hearts are locked together in eternal love.
In Pakistan, where Valentine's Day greetings are usually exchanged by youth in secret, fearing backlash from devout Muslims, love was in the air as roadside stalls stacked up red roses and balloons.
Roses, chocolates and a promise of love were abundant in all these ceremonies.
