Three people killed and 11 others are missing following a cloud burst in a village in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, according to reports.
District Magistrate Pithoragarh V K Jogdande said, "Three people in the Madkot village lost their lives while 8 people from a neighbouring village are missing following a cloud burst. A rescue team is present at the spot," according to the initial reports.
4 houses washed away, residents safely evacuated
Four houses were also washed away in the swirling waters of Gori river. However, no loss of life was reported and the residents of the houses are safely evacuated to safety, according to officials.
SDM in charge of Bangapani, AK Shukla, said, "Keeping in mind the imminent danger, we had already shifted the families living in those houses. They are safe."
"The affected families have been provided 20 kgs of ration and other essentials besides a sum of Rs 1.19 lakh as compensation. A team of officials has also been rushed to the spot for a first-hand assessment," he said.
