Two helicopters of the Peoples Liberation Army of China were reportedly seen flying over the Indian territory in Barahoti area of Uttarakhand's Chamoli district near the India-China border on Saturday, June 3. Intelligence agencies have launched a probe over the reports.

According to local media, Chamoli Superintendent of Police Tripti Bhatt said, "One chopper was sighted hovering over Barahoti area violating Indian airspace at 9.15 am. It remained inside the Indian airspace for nearly four minutes."
The authorities do not have any information on second chopper.
"There have been similar airspace violations in the past too. However, we cannot say whether the violation was a deliberate act of recce or an unintentional deviation," the SP added.
Meanwhile sources have also echoed the same point that nothing is out of routine. "The Chinese helicopter came 500m inside Indian airspace. Protest raised as per existing bilateral mechanism," said the sources.
