In yet another fatal bus mishap, a passenger bus travelling from Delhi to Uttarakhand fell into a gorge on Saturday, killing 14 people, and injuring more than 20 others.
The bus was on its way to Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand when the accident occurred at Almora district.
There were 40 passengers in the Uttarakhand Roadways bus at the time of the accident that occurred at around 1 pm on Saturday.
The bus plunged about 100-feet into a deep gorge near Almora district, and several people were killed instantly, Press Trust of India reported.
Several survivors were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Uttarakhand Chief minister Harish Rawat announced a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to the families of those killed in the bus accident, and Rs. 50,000 for those seriously injured,. according to PTI
The bus accident comes days after a bus in Andhra Pradesh fell into the Godavari river, killing 22 people.
