In a gut-wrenching incident, a couple in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, facing financial issues allowed an exorcist to sacrifice their daughter, Kavita, and rape the body. The exorcist had promised them that after this, they would find five kilos of "hidden gold." The gold is nowhere to be seen.
While the 15-year-old girl's father Mahaveer, who is a jeweller, filed a missing complaint and accused the exorcist Krishna Sharma of kidnapping Kavita, her body was found on Thursday, reported Hindustan Times. Sharma, who sometimes worked as a driver for Mahaveer, too has now been arrested.
Sharma was aware of the financial issues that Mahaveer was going through and is said to have told Kavita's parents that they would find hidden gold if they sacrificed their daughter. Trusting Sharma, Mahaveer and his wife along with Kavita went to the Annapurna temple in the area to pray, after which they went to a peepul tree. There, Kavita, who was in a semi-conscious state, was stripped and strangulated.
Sharma then went to a nearby field to bury the body and raped it. He then reportedly slit the throat to collect blood that was to be offered to a deity.
The body has now been sent for post-mortem and Kavita's parents are in custody and being questioned.
