A 52-year-old man allegedly beheaded his wife in a fit of anger following an argument on Monday, June 12, in Uttar Pradesh. The man, who was identified as Ram Sewak, then walked to a police outpost, carrying the severed head of his wife, and surrendered.
The incident took place in Lakhimpur Kheri district, after Sevak had an argument with his wife, Usha Devi, over a family matter.
"Sewak brutally killed his wife with a khurpa (shovel-like tool) and beheaded her. He then went to Behjam police outpost with his wife's severed head and surrendered," Neemgaon station house officer DK Singh said.
"A case of murder has been lodged and Ram Sewak has been sent to custody," he added. According to the police, the couple had gone to their fields on Monday morning.
"They had an argument following which Ram Sewak lost his cool and killed his wife. The villagers claimed that Ram Sewak was mentally unstable," Singh said.
The police also said that Sewak had once earlier even chased his brother in a fit of anger. However, his mental condition is yet to be confirmed.
