Kamal Haasan starrer "Uttama Villain" aka "Uthama Villain" is doing well at overseas box office collection centres, especially in the US, Canada and Australia.
In the US, the opening weekend saw "Uttama Villain" earning ₹2.96 crore from 98 screens. In the second weekend, it was reduced to 60 screens, but managed to collect about ₹64 lakh, to take the total to ₹3.60 crore.
In Canada, the first weekend raked in ₹30.58 lakh from 11 screens and the second weekend added ₹20 odd lakh, to take the total collection to ₹50.81 lakh. The screen count during the second weekend remained unchanged.
In the UK, "Uttama Villain" earned ₹97.26 lakh from 16 screens. The collection is comparatively less for a Kamal Haasan movie here; his earlier films have done a lot better business in the initial two weekends.
Australia has also turned out to be a good money spinner for "Uttama Villain". The Tamil movie collected ₹92.31 lakh from 10 screens. In the first weekend, the film had earned ₹69.80 lakh from 17 screens.
The last major foreign centre for Tamil films is Malaysia and "Uttama Villain" does not seem to be doing good here. The total collection till date is ₹1.31 crore from 25 screens. The film had raked in ₹95.12 lakh from 26 screens in the opening weekend.
"Uttama Villain" is facing competition from other Tamil movies such as "Ok Kanmani" and "Kanchana 2" at overseas centres. While the Mani Ratnam directorial has done amazing business in the US, the Raghava Lawrence-directorial has done exceptionally well in Malaysia.
