A 46-year-old US woman was allegedly gangraped by two unidentified men in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, earlier this week, according to reports.
The police have registered a case under IPC section 376 (rape) on the complaint of the woman.
In her complaint, she claimed that she was drugged and raped on Monday evening, when she was returning to her hotel after purchasing groceries from the nearby Kotwali market.
"I had gone to shop at a market on September 14 when two people attacked me from behind," ANI quoted the woman as saying.
The California woman, who is on her first visit to India, had reportedly visited Kullu and Manali before coming to Dharamsala.
"Spot inspection and medical examination of complainant has been done. The matter is being investigated," Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Renu Sharma told ANI.
