Leander Paes and Martina Hingis continued their amazing US Open form with a huge win against the second seed pair, Rohan Bopanna and Yung-Jan Chan 6-2, 7-5, in the semi-final of US Open 2015 on Thursday.
Paes and Hingis, as usual, played some attractive tennis to entertain the crowd in New York. It was an easy first set win for the fourth seeds, but Bopanna and Yung-Jan turned up the heat in the second set. However, that was still not enough as Paes and Hingis upped their game to close the second set as well.
With this terrific performance, Paes and Hingis have reached the finals of the mixed doubles, where they are scheduled to meet Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sam Querrey. The Indo-Swiss pair, who are looking for their third grand slam title of the season after winning the Australian Open and French Open, will head into finals as favourites.
Earlier during the day, Hingis partnering Sania Mirza reached the women's doubles finals after defeating the 11th seed Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta in the semi finals. The score read 6-4, 6-1.
The Indo-Swiss women's doubles pair have been in brilliant form throughout the competition as the top seeds have not dropped a single set so far in the US Open. After having won the Wimbledon title, Sania and Hingis are on course for back-to-back grand slam wins.
After deciding to form a pair in the women's doubles, Sania and Hingis have been impeccable in their performance as they have won a number of titles this season. It is the great chemistry between the two players on court, which helps them form a dangerous combination in the circuit.
However, Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea were a major disappointment after they lost in the men's doubles quarterfinals to an unseeded pair of Dominic Inglot of Great Britain and Sweden's Robert Lindstedt with the score reading, 6-7, 3-6.
