Labour Day (labor day), celebrated to honor the American labor movement and the contributions of all workers towards the well-being of the country, is celebrated on the first Monday of September in the United States.
This year, the labour day, which is observed as a public holiday, falls on 7 September.
The first labour day parade in New York City was organised by the Knights of Labour and was promoted by the Central Labour Union. The day was established as a federal holiday in 1887.
Canada's Labour Day is also celebrated on the same day, but more than 80 countries dedicate 1 May to honour the contributions of labourers.
