Srinivasa Kalyanam has failed to beat the collection records of Nithiin's films A...Aa and Chal Mohan Ranga (CMR), while Goodachari crossed $0.5-million mark at the US box office on Wednesday.
Nithiin has a decent fan following in international markets, especially in the US and the collections of A...Aa and Chal Mohan Ranga are proof for it. Hence, there was great demand for the overseas theatrical rights of Srinivasa Kalyanam. Showtime Cinemas acquired its rights for a whopping price of Rs 3.40 crore and released it in 130 screens across the US today. The distributors also held its premieres on Wednesday.
The Nithiin and Raashi Khanna starrer opened to a decent response in the preview show in the US. Early estimates show that Srinivasa Kalyanam has collected $56,189 from 101 locations at the US box office in the premiere shows and this number is expected to increase when the final figures are revealed by the distributors.
Srinivasa Kalyanam has shattered the record of Lie, but failed to beat A...Aa and Chal Mohan Ranga. Trade analyst Idlebrain Jeevi tweeted, "#SrinivasaKalyanam USA hourly gross by midnight for premieres is $56,189 from 101 locations. Nithin earlier highest premier grosses A aa - 281k Chal Mohan Ranga - 140k Lie - 55k (sic)"
On the other hand, Goodachari collected $495,940 at the US box office in five days and it needs to gross $4,060 to surpass half a million dollar mark in the country. The movie has raked in these numbers on Wednesday. The distributors are yet to reveal the final figures of its sixth day in the country.
