Shailaja Reddy Alludu has opened to brilliant response and made superb collection at the US box office in the premiere shows. The movie has led the race in the country, beating U Turn and Seema Raja.
Ever since they were launched, all the three movies have been creating ripples in the media. In a bid to cash on their hype, the distributors have released Shailaja Reddy Alludu, U Turn and Seema Raja 172, 104 and 100 screens, respectively, in the US on September 13. All of them were premiered in equal number screens on Wednesday, a day before they hit the marquee.
The Naga Chaitanya and Anu Emmanuel starrer, which had good advance booking, started with a bang and went on register very good amount of occupancy in the preview shows. As per early update, Shailaja Reddy Alludu has collected $86,172 from 138 location at the US box office in the premiere shows. This is number will go up, when the final figures are released.
Naga Chaitanya's Premam and Rarandoi Veduka Chuddham collected $74955 and $67499 at the US box office in their premiere shows and they were the biggest opening solo movies for the actor. Now, Shailaja Reddy Alludu has beaten these records to become the biggest opener for him in the country.
U Turn starring Samantha Akkineni has opened to an average response and collected $7,178 from 55 locations at the US box office in the premiere shows. On the other hand, Tamil movie Seema Raja starring Sivakarthikeyan and Samantha Akkineni has got poor opening and collected $2,198 from 26 locations at the US box office. The numbers of both the movies are likely to go up by the end of the days.
Trade analyst Idlebrain Jeevi tweeted, "Gross of premieres of South Indian films in USA today (12 September) at 7:50 pm PST: #SailajaReddyAlludu - $86,172 from 138 locations #UTurn - $7,178 from 55 locations #SeemaRaja Tamil - $2,198 from 26 locations #SailajaReddyAlludu leads by big margin".
