Tamil movie "Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum" (KKP) has got a superb opening at the US box office and is leading race at the ticket counters, beating Telugu movies "Kalyana Vaibhogame" and "Kshanam".
"Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum," starring Vijay Sethupathi, was released March 11 in 47 cinema halls in North America. The movie was premiered at several locations Thursday night and collected $12,583. The word of mouth helped it register a decent amount of occupancy on its opening day.
"Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum" has collected $40,928 at the US box office on its first day, taking its total to $53,511. Its per-screen average stands at $1,138. Indian trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: "Tamil film #KadhalumKadhanthuPogum takes an IMPRESSIVE start in USA. Thu $ 12,583, Fri $ 40,928. Total: $ 53,511 [₹ 35.84 lacs]. @Rentrak [sic]"
"Kalyana Vaibhogame" was released March 4 in 68 screens in the country and got a decent opening. The film collected $180,435 at the US box office in the first week. The Naga Shourya-starrer continued its dream run in the second week. The movie has grossed $11,089 at the US box office on its second Friday, taking its eight-day US total to $191,524

Two-week-old Telugu movie "Kshanam" has also continued to keep the cash registers ringing in the country in its third week. The movie collected $2,324 at the US box office on its third Friday. Its 15-day US total has now reached $122,651. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "Telugu film #Kshanam - USA - Week 3: Fri $ 2,324. Total: $ 122,651 [₹ 82.14 lacs]. GOOD! @Rentrak [sic]"
