The Hindi version of SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali - the Beginning" (Bahubali) is being screened only on one screen at the USA box office, but it is still giving tough competition to "Srimanthudu".
The Hindi version of "Baahubali - the Beginning" held 3 cinema halls in the USA in its eighth week, but new south Indian releases like "Maya", "Mayuri" and "Trisha Illana Nayanthara" snatched two theatres from it and reduced its screen count to one in the country. But the film was the first choice of some film goers even in its ninth weekend.
"Baahubali - the Beginning" has collected $1,006 from one screen at the USA box office in its ninth weekend and its 59-day US total collection stands at $4,87,292 [Rs 3.23 crore]. Its screen-count might have been reduced in its ninth week, but its per-screen average is bigger than its collection [$2,932 from 3 screens] in its eight weekend.
The Telugu version of "Baahubali - the Beginning" has collected $6,460,124 [Rs 41.45 crore] at the USA box office in 17 days, while its Tamil version raked in $567,227 [Rs 3.63 crore]. The three versions of the film have together grossed approximately $7,514,643 [Rs 48.31 crore] in the country so far.
In its seventh week, "Srimanthudu" has been successful in retaining five cinema halls that it held in the last week. But the movie has witnessed steep decline in its collection. The Mahesh Babu starrer collected $2,854 at the USA box office in the sixth weekend. However, the film raked in $1,456 at the USA box office in its seventh weekend and its per-screen average stands at $291.
"Srimanthudu" has collected a total of $2,891,108 [Rs 19.16 crore] at the USA box office in 45 days. The Mahesh Babu starrer has become the second highest all time grossing Telugu film in the country after "Baahubali the Beginning". The movie was expected to cross the mark of $3 million in the country, but its present trends hint that the film might never be able to surpass this mark.
