Of all the wonderful things coming around with the new Fallout 4, what's most exciting is the SPECIAL perks system in the game. SPECIAL stands for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Agility and Luck, and will determine a lot of things when adventuring through the game.
There are a few things that one needs to keep in mind to understand the concept of the SPECIAL perks system. Let's take a closer look at two of them today – Perception and Strength.
Fallout 4 Perks – Perception and Strength
Understanding Perception
Basically, Perception enhances your overall awareness and abilities that have to do with sense. It increases weapon accuracy when using the V.A.T.S. (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System), besides lock-picking ability and even determines your success when trying to steal things. The higher your Perception ability, the more accurately you'll be with the V.A.T.S. system.
Perception also plays a major role, as far as crafting is concerned. The higher the Perception, the easier it will be to successfully steal items. This includes picking locks to get into previous inaccessible areas to secure even better items.
The Rifleman Perk increases your non-automatic rifle weapon damage by 20 per cent, while Demolition Expert increases explosive weapon damage. Sniper increases damage inflicted by head shots.
Understanding Strength
Strength will determine how much weight you can carry, apart from how much damage you can inflict on the enemy with melee attacks. The more weight you carry, the bigger and better the weapons and armour you will have at your disposal.
Even if you are helped by a companion while in the game, it's better to get the strength up since it will help you carry more weight and weapons.
The perks associated with Strength include Iron Fist, Big Leagues, Strong Back and Weapon Handling. Iron Fist is a damage bonus for unarmed attacks, while a Perk like Strong Back will further increase the amount of weight you can carry.
