When Tata Motors unveiled the name Zica for its new hatchback codenamed the Kite, it wasn't surprising. Many reports had previously given away the same name. Since the speculation turned out to be true for the hatchback, the same is expected for the compact sedan whose name, rumours say, is Sway.
A report from MotorOctane in June 2015 confirmed that the manufacturer has registered the names Zica and Sway. This also indicates that the possible name for the compact sedan would be Sway.
The Tata Zica and Sway siblings are based on the copiously tweaked Xo platform. The compact sedan likely to use the same powertrains of the Zica that include 1.2-litre three-cylinder DOHC aluminum motor and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel engine. While the petrol engine tuned to dish out 83.8bhp of power at 6000 rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3500 rpm, the diesel mill is capable of putting out 69bhp of power 4000 rpm and 140Nm of torque between 1800 – 3000 rpm. The engine will be mated to a five speed manual gearbox as well as an AMT gearbox. Like the Zica, the Sway also expected to come with three drive modes- Eco, City and Sport.
The sway will be premium on par with the Hyundai Xcent. The features expected include integrated Harman infotainment system with 8 speakers, bluetooth connectivity, navigation, dual airbags, ABS, steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs and voice command.
On design, the Sway is expected to look like the sibling of the Zica. The face and side profile will be tweaked slightly the same way Hyundai designed the Grand i10 and the Xcent. The boot is expected to be larger than the Tata Zest and will feature a distinctive styling.
