The Indian auto market will soon see an influx of new additions as companies are gearing up to launch their new offerings. Auto enthusiasts will have a feast laid out for their eyes, since the new arrivals in the market range from the high-end luxury SUVs to MPVs and the affordable entry-level hatchbacks. To make your search easy, International Business Times, India brings to you a lowdown on the cars, which are expected to be launched this summer in the country.
Bentley Bentayga (Launch on April 22 )
Bentayga, the newest offering from the British luxury automobile manufacturer, Bentley Motors, is the first ever SUV from the company. It will make its India entry on April 22. The Bentayga SUV, which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, is expected to fit in the price brackets of Rs. 4-6 crore in India. Bentley claims Bentayga to be the fastest and most powerful SUV in the world.
The Bentley Bentayga is based on the VW Group's new MLB-Evo platform and measures 5,141mm in length, 2,223mm in width and 1,742mm in height, and comes with a wheelbase of 2,992mm.
Under the bonnet of the Bentayga is an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine that can conveniently churn out 600bhp of power and a mammoth 900Nm of torque mated to eight-speed transmission. The SUV sprints 0-100kmph in 4.1 seconds before attaining a top speed of 301kmph.
Toyota Innova Crysta (Launch on May 3)
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will launch the highly-anticipated new avatar of the popular MPV Innova in India on May 3. The second-generation Innova, dubbed Innova Crysta in India, is expected to include 2,755cc and 2,393cc diesel engines under the hood. While the 2,393cc diesel engine will develop 148bhp of power and 243Nm of torque, the 2,755cc mill will churn out 172bhp and 360Nm of torque. The transmission in the Innova Crysta is expected to be taken care of by a six-speed automatic and a five-speed manual gearbox.
As for features, the Innova Crysta is expected to include automatic climate control with rear auto cooler, a 7-inch audio with navigation, cruise control and electrically adjustable driver seat. On the safety front, the MPV is likely to feature ABS with Electronic brake distribution and brake assist as standard across the trim.
Honda BR-V (Launch on May 5)
The BR-V SUV from Honda will make its entry into the Indian market on May 5. Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 in February, the BR-V is expected to be priced competitively and will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. To be powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that develops 120bhp at 6,600rpm and 145Nm at 4,600rpm, the BR-V will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The BR-V is expected to come with safety features such as dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HAS).
Datsun redi-Go (Launch in June)
Datsun, the low-cost brand of Nissan, unveiled its new redi-Go hatchback in India on April 6. The redi-Go, the third offering of the company in India after Go hatchback and Go+ MPV, will be launched in India in June. The bookings for the new hatchback will begin in May.
The redi-Go, the first Datsun car based on the Common Module Family (CMF-A) platform, will come powered by an 800cc three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The redi-Go, which features a tall boy design, comes with a ground clearance of 185mm and weighs just 660kg. Datsun is expected to price the redi-Go at Rs. 2.44 lakh (ex-showroom).
