Car-makers in India are gearing up for new launches in the country. In April alone, three new cars are expected to hit the Indian roads, in addition to the updated versions of existing models. Here, we round up for you the list of cars and bike expected to reach to the Indian shores in April 2016.
Mahindra NuvoSport (April 4)
UV-maker Mahindra and Mahindra is all set to pull the wraps off its new compact SUV, the NuvoSport, April 4. The company, which already has two offerings in this segment — the TUV300 and the KUV100 — is expected to price the NuvoSport around Rs 6.5 lakh. The compact SUV, which will replace the Quanto in the Indian market, is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that will develop 100bhp and 240Nm of torque.
The NuvoSport has been designed and developed in-house by the Mahindra design team, while the research and development of the vehicle has been carried out at the Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. The SUV is based on the same new-generation platform as that of the Scorpio.
Tata Tiago (April 6)
Tata Motors much-awaited Tiago hatchback will see the light of day April 6 in India. The Tiago, formerly the Zica, was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in February this year, after its global unveiling in December 2015. Tata Tiago, which was renamed following the Zika virus outbreak in many countries, is open for bookings with a down payment of Rs. 10,000.
The powertrain of the Tiago will include a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine. While the petrol mill will churn out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, the diesel engine will produce 69bhp of power 4,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,800-3,000rpm. Both engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Datsun redi-go (April 14)
Nissan's low-cost brand Datsun is expected to unveil the new redi-Go in India April 14. The redi-Go — the third offering of Datsun after the GO hatchback and the GO+ MPV — is built on the same CMF-A platform as Renault Kwid. Under the hood, Datsun redi-Go is likely to get an 800cc, three-cylinder petrol engine with five-speed manual transmission. An automated manual transmission (AMT) version and a 1.0-litre engine are expected to join the line-up later in its life cycle. The redi-Go is also rumoured to get a 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel engine developed by Nissan.
The redi-Go is expected to be priced under Rs. 3 lakh.
