American motorcycle manufacturer UM will launch Renegade Classic in March 2017. The company had revealed the price of the model at Auto Expo 2016. The third motorcycle of UM is priced at Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
"In March 2017, we will be launching the Classic Renegade and after that we will launch a new model every six months," ET Auto quoted Rajeev Mishra Director of UM India & Asia, Middle East and Africa as saying.
The booking of Renegade Classic is expected to start from January 2017. The motorcycle will be powered by a 280cc single-cylinder water cooled engine that can develop 25bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 21.8Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, teamed with six-speed transmission. It measures 1975mm in length, 1280mm in height and 730mm in width.
UM Motorcycles India will soon begin deliveries of its first two models - Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S, priced at Rs 1.49 lakh and Rs 1.59 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom Delhi). The Miami-based company has received over 4,000 bookings for its cruisers so far.
The production of the cruisers is said to be underway at Lohia Auto's Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand, currently making 1,000-1,500 motorcycles per month. The plant has a production capacity of up to 50,000 per annum and the company will sell the new motorcycles through 50 dealerships in the country.
