American motorcycle maker UM Motorcycles opened its first dealership in India in Delhi's Connaught Place area. UM Motorcycle India, in a tweet, informed the bikes are being displayed at the dealership and test rides will begin soon.
UM Motorcycle India has a vast dealership network plan. Apart from Delhi, it will set up dealerships in 24 cities, which include Noida, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Thane, Kolhapur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kochi, Coimbatore, Chennai, Madurai, Guwahati, Imphal and Aizawl.
The company debuted in India at the Auto Expo 2016 by offering two cruiser bike models â€" Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport S. UM received over 1,000 bookings for its bikes by the end of March and closed bookings for the first lot. The company had re-opened bookings mid-may. Deliveries of the first batch of bookings will begin soon while the second batch of customers will get their vehicles by August, the company said.
UM Renegade Commando has been priced at Rs. 1.59 lakh, while the Sport S comes with a price tag of Rs. 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Both the motorcycles draw power from a 280cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine that can develop 25bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 21.8Nm of torque at 7,000rpm, mated to six-speed transmission. Both the motorcycles come with a ground clearance of 150 mm and fuel tank capacity of 18 litres. The Commando will come in three colours (Black Shine, Green Matt and Grey Matt), while the Sports S will be offered in Shiny Black, Orange and Red.
